About Dr. Lorinda Sorensen

Dr. Lorinda Sorensen (she/hers/they) likes to be called Dr. Lorinda or Dr. Sorensen. She is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington and Oregon, a primary care physician, and Licensed Acupuncturist in Washington. She currently practices at Battle Ground Healing Arts in Washington. Visits with her focus on listening to you, a gentle and thorough examination and treatment, and encourage you to be a part of your own wellness plan. She truly believes in medicine that supports the whole person.

She was born and raised in Washington State. During her younger years she studied art at Cornish College of the Arts, and it is a strong desire to understand the beauty of nature that has led her to natural medicine. She is a is a graduate of Bastyr University, where she received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Master of Science in Acupuncture, and Bachelor of Health Sciences. 

She is a professor at the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS), where she teaches classes in naturopathic philosophy, endocrinology, and women’s health, as well as several classes in botanical medicine. She was active in the Illinois Association of Naturopathic Physicians. In addition, she was a founding director of the Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She has practiced in Washington state, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and New Zealand, where she was also a consultant for the health products industry. Dr. Sorensen currently teaches at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland and still teaches remotely at the National University of Health Sciences. She also volunteers for the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians. 

Personally, Dr. Sorensen has a strong interest in nature, gardening, cooking with whole foods, yoga, and art. She is a life-long learner and wants to instill a passion for knowledge in others. She adores her dog Lily and relaxes reading science fiction novels. She loves to explore nature by hiking and has been involved with mycological groups and citizen sciences projects like iNaturalist.
